About Us
About Us

A Brief Introduction
Mackay Presbyterian Church is located in the major regional city of Mackay in the heart of Queensland, on the coast, near the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.

We are part of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland in the Presbytery of Central Queensland. Mackay Charge has two preaching places - "Scots" North Mackay & Sarina. We minister to people from a variety of backgrounds and ages of people throughout Mackay, Sarina and the Pioneer Valley.

Come and visit us and you will find many wonderful people of God who are keen to share the love of God with those around about them.

A Brief History of Mackay Presbyterian Church
There has been a Presbyterian Church in Mackay for over 120 years. With the formation of the Uniting Church of Australia in 1977, those who chose to remain as Presbyterians received the land and the building where we are now located. It is from there that we continue the work and ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Mackay.

The property has been added to and re-furbished over the years to meet the needs of the congregation. In 1986, land was purchased on Beach Road Sarina and, in 1987, an old school building was relocated to the site and refurbished to become Sarina Presbyterian Church. We have a strong belief that God will continue to build His Church and we look forward with anticipation to see what He has in store for us in our part in His kingdom.

Who goes to Church these days?
Our Church Family in both preaching places is made up of a wide variety of people from all social, ethnic and economic backgrounds, with a spread of ages to match. Our Son Seekers [Sunday School] continues to grow. Our young mothers are active in playgroups.

Many of our Church Family members meet at various times for prayer and Bible Study. Our Pastoral Care Team regularly visit those infirmed in hospitals and at home. Our Mission Awareness Group meets regularly to pray for the missionarys we support at home and abroad. The youth of the church gather weekly for bible study and fellowship. We can really say that God has blessed us with a Church Family that reflects all areas of the society in which we live.

Of course, there's always room for you and you are welcome to come along!

Our Purpose
We are committed to serving God in accordance with the teaching of the bible.

We believe this is possible through the prayerful and systematic teaching of Scripture: formally through worship services and informally through personal and group bible study.

We expect to see God working through us in fellowship, practical care, hospitality, nurturing and encouragement across the broad range of ages, backgrounds and interests of our congregation.

On a firm foundation of prayer, teaching and fellowship we will share the love of God to a needy world.
